BNDP’s political rally in Chicago on Saturday, October 28, 2006, was a great success for the Assyrians of Illinois and throughout the world. Part of this triumph was due to the efforts of zealous BNDP members in Chicago and a great part was due to the appearance of the rally’s guests of Honor, Dr. Sargon Dadesho, the President of the Assyrian National Congress and his brother, Mr. William Dadesho, Former Vice-President of BNDP.

Over 220 people crowded the rally each anticipating getting a close glimpse of Dr. Dadesho, the most admired Assyrian nationalist and political figure in today’s turbulence times for this nation. Over 36 years ago, Dr. Dadesho breathed life into the first Assyrian political party, BNDP and subsequently, the Bet-Nahrain Magazine, the Bet-Nahrain Cultural Organization in Ceres, California, AssyriaVision KBSV - TV Channel 23, the first Assyrian television channel, AssyriaSat, the first and only Assyrian Global Television Network.

The presence of Dr. Dadesho by many who have admired him on his television program was a significant occurrence. People of Chicago could not wait to see this man of honor who cherishes his nation’s national identity, history, literature and culture. Dr. Dadesho, through multiple media outlets he founded for the Assyrians has proven to be an effective educator, an ingenious communicator, an intelligent political leader, a genuine nationalist, and a sincere Christian. Had he been alive in the ancient times, today we would see his statues and numerous tablets in the world museums reciting his attributes and accomplishments for his beloved Assyrian nation.

One of the greatest accomplishments of Dr. Dadesho and his political party, BNDP was their victory in defending and guarding numerous conspiracies against the Assyrian national identity and the Assyrian national church, the Assyrian Church of the East. It is no wonder that during Saddam’s regime, Dr. Dadesho was the most feared Assyrian leader by Saddam’s Baath party. But, Dr. Dadesho was saved from the attempted assassination against him by Saddam’s puppets in 1988 and never stopped his journey to defend and educate his people.

The video of the rally will be broadcasted on AssyriaSat in the near future.
