DAMASCUS, (KUNA) -- The criminal military court in Allepo Wednesday released 16 assyrian Syrians who were accused of participating in a peaceful demonstration protesting the killing of two assyrians.

The Assyrian democratic organization, in a statement, welcomed the release of the citizens and considered it a "positive and advanced step toward removing causes of tension in the Syrian community in general." It called on the security authorities to move against the murderers of the two assyrians who were pressuring families of the two victims to withdraw their court case.

The organization said the release was the fruit of efforts of different Syrian committees and parties.
